Professor John Kuada turned 60
2 January Professor John Kuada celebrated his 60 years birthday.John Kuada has been a central figure in the Center for International Business Economics at the Department of Business and Management for over 20 years. Originally, John Kuada is from Ghana, where he was born and raised in the small village, Awarte, by the Volta Lake, and this background has been a significant starting point for his career in the world of research.
In 1972 he was one of the few to access the University of Ghana, where he completed a business administration bachelor degree in business administration in 1975, and subsequently completed a MBA with specialization in Marketing. Hereafter John Kuada got a Danida Fellowship so that he could get a Ph. D at Copenhagen Business School.
After working as a teacher in Ghana for a few years, John Kuada returned to Denmark in 1984 encouraged by the fact that he was Danish engaged and married. In the early years in Denmark, it was difficult to get a solid connection in the form of a research position. However, in 1990 John Kuada began collaborating with AAU. John Kuada has now been employed at the university for 21 years and from 2008 as professor in intercultural management, where the research is partly sponsored by Grundfos. Furthermore John Kuada is director of the MSc program in international business economics, and has also been coordinator for the construction of an English-language Bachelor's degree in Management.
While working at AAU John Kuada has continuously been working closely with the University of Ghana. John Kuada is the coordinator of these projects, where he teaches and conducts research on the development of the Ghanaian business community specifically targeting exports and cooperation with Danish companies, and especially educating and training Ghanaian students and teachers.
Although John Kuada in the past years has resided in Aalborg, together with his wife Gitte and their 2 children, he has not forgotten the village he was born in. In the future, John Kuada is dreaming about spending more time in the village - and still being active in relation to boost the region's economy.
